Why are the cast burners (bar shaped) only lighting on the left side?

The burner cross-over channel may be dirty.
Remove the main burner.
Turn the burner upside down and find the cross-over channel. (A space where the gas crosses over to the other side of the burner.) Clear the cross-over channel with a blade or hacksaw until the channel is clear.
